As a makeup artist (full disclosure: I am also a beauty director at Sephora), I am often asked how to update makeup and skincare routines to stay current each season.

The truth is, there are some tried and true tips that stand the test of time — like exfoliating and hydrating religiously — but I would be lying if I didn't say there are other tips you should be following to stay glowing.

Here, I've put together six skincare and makeup tips I think we'll need to follow in 2022 (as well as a few trends), and how to prep yourself to embrace it all.

Skincare

Layer Up On Moisture

The changing seasons means changes with our skin. As our first line of defense against the harshness of our environments, our skin needs some help in adapting to colder climates and seasons. Cooler temps can drain the skin of hydration, deplete our natural moisture barrier, and contribute to developing fine lines and wrinkles. A great way to combat this is to switch to products that are more suited for the season, like a richer moisturizer.
