Turns out, the top 2023 beauty trends span decades past and present, and speak to all taste levels. The name of the game across categories of makeup, hair, nails, and fragrance is this: maximalism. “A frosty, metallic finish gives lips a futuristic edge, especially in cool tones like silver and blue,” says Barose. If you’re intimidated by the trend, the artist suggests trying it in lipgloss form.

But for the fun, dramatic beauty looks that are dominating red carpets, runways, and our TikTok ‘For You’ page, Barose recommends a matte canvas. Be advised: matte does not mean dry. “The new matte is fresh and velvety. Not overly dry or opaque, which is the thing of the past.”
